Dry Type Transformer
A Dry Type Transformer is a type of transformer that does not use any insulating liquid (like oil) to cool or insulate its windings. Instead, it relies on air ventilation for cooling, and the windings are protected with high-temperature insulation materials such as epoxy resin or varnish.
Key Features of Dry Type Transformers:
- Uses air (natural or forced) for cooling instead of oil.
- Windings are often vacuum-cast with resin (epoxy) to prevent moisture and dust ingress.
- Since there’s no flammable oil, the risk of fire or environmental contamination is minimal.
- No oil means no leaks, less routine maintenance, and easier installation indoors.
